Type Locality and Naming
Gorin zone of westernmost Sikhote-Alin. The Upper Jurassic-Valanginian interval in the Gorin zone is represented by marine terrigenous rocks well exposed on the right bank of the Amur (Heilong) River in front of the city Komsomolskon-Amur
Lithology and Thickness
Lowermost rhythmic alternation unit (previously regarded as the Gorin Fm), the silty unit (previously regarded as the Pioner Fm) and the upper sandy unit (previously regarded as the Pivan Fm or Silinka Fm). Rhythmic unit consists of rhythmic alternation of sandstones and siltstones intercalated by beds of sandstones and mudstones and interbeds of gravelstones and conglomerates with a total thickness of about 700 m. Silty unit mainly consists of siltstones and silty sandstones with rare fine-grained sandstones with a total thickness of 1100 m. Sandy unit is mainly composed of medium-grained thick-bedded sandstones and to a lesser degree of coarse-grained sandstones, gravelstones, sedimentological breccias, siltstones, alternation of sandstones and siltstones with a total thickness of about 800 m.
